Bhopal organ donation Society, a not-for-profit society; which is run by a group of like-minded &committed medical & non-medical professionals engaged in the noble cause of Organ Donation in Bhopal and inspired by the mission to ensure that every one who is suffering from end stage of organ failure should be provided with the gift of life through a life-saving organ. Starting from the point of creating public awareness about organ donation as well as the all-important stage of counseling the families as in case of 'brain-dead' patients to that of coordinating between the various agencies involved in the organ retrieval/ transplantation process to promote this whole activity efficiently, BODS is involved with the entire gamut of this critical activity in accordance with the Transplantation of Human Organs Act (THOA), 1994 as modified in 2014. BODS organize awareness events & activities to create and promote awareness about organ donation among masses.
‘Recycle Organs’ an initiative to extend awareness to masses and work to educate and raise awareness of organ and tissue donation in the community supported by a strong network of active volunteers.

OUR SOCIETY ENVISAGES ACCOMPLISHING THIS MISSION THROUGH THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES:

To create public awareness among a cross-section of the population.
To train health care professionals in transplant coordination.
To counsel families of "brain dead" victims to donate their loved ones organs.
To Coordinate between the Organ donor/ families, Medical Institutions and other concerning agencies in retrieval transplantation process.
To liaise with Government (State and Central) to pass favorable legislation that will help increase organ donations in India.
To Raise resources to promote organ donation efficiently.

A separate helpline has been initiated for the Bhopal Organ Donation Society in order to help people with information pertaining to Organ and Tissue donation. Counseling needs will also be catered through this helpline

From the President’s Pen

Organ donation should be seen as a “gift of life”, but the scarcity of these lifesaving gifts in our society is astounding! Organ transplants are one of the greatest achievements in modern medicine. However, they depend entirely on the generosity of donors and their families. It is our moral duty to support and help people who are in need because even if we aren’t related by blood, we are all human beings and that is enough to unite us. It doesn’t matter who we are or what we do, what matters is that we all live under the same sun; So choose to help the thousands of patients waiting for an organ transplant.

When there is an organ donor, life springs from death, sorrow turns to hope and a terrible loss becomes a gift. Organ donation is a way to live forever, so pledge to donate-give them a hope.
